GetAdvice Privacy Policy
Effective: 2026-07-03
This Privacy Policy describes how the GetAdvice iOS app and this public website handle your data. Published by JM Automated Solutions LLC ("we," "us"). Short version below; full details follow.
The short version
- The free tier runs on-device whenever your device supports it. When on-device models are unavailable, your question is processed securely by our servers and the AI providers named below — used only to generate the answer, never stored.
- We do not track you across apps or websites. No IDFA. No App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- The iOS app has no third-party analytics or ads. No Firebase Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook SDK, or AppLovin in the app.
- The public website uses limited analytics. Our own first-party analytics are cookieless and used for page-performance and product-interest signals. While we run ad campaigns, the website also loads ad-measurement pixels (see section 1D) — never the iOS app.
- Voice transcription is on-device. Audio is never uploaded.
- We don't sell your data. We don't have data to sell.
1. What we collect
A. Free tier (anonymous, on-device)
We collect nothing. When your device supports Apple's on-device language models, questions and answers are processed on your iPhone and stored locally in the app's sandboxed storage. If on-device models are unavailable, your question is sent securely to our servers and processed by the AI providers listed in section 4 — used only to generate the answer and not stored.
B. If you Sign In with Apple
We receive from Apple: a stable opaque Apple user ID (a hash, not your Apple ID email), your display name if you choose to share it, and your email (real or Apple's private relay — Apple decides). Your session token is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device, and your account record (Apple user ID, name if shared, email) is stored on our server to recognize you across devices. You can delete it in-app at any time (Settings › Delete account data).
C. GetAdvice Pro subscribers
Apple processes the payment. We never see your credit card. We receive a signed receipt from Apple confirming an active subscription and the product ID purchased (com.getadvice.pro.monthly).
Cloud requests from the web version and Pro cloud features go through our Cloudflare Worker endpoint. The Worker sees your prompt and GetAdvice's reply (used only to generate the answer, not stored), a request ID for billing reconciliation, and the IP address Cloudflare's edge sees (transient, used for rate limiting). The Worker does not log prompts to disk.
D. Public website analytics and ad measurement
The public website at jmautomated.com uses limited, cookieless first-party analytics to understand which public pages are useful, such as the homepage, demo, article, model, and citation pages. These are configured separately from the iOS app and are not used for ad personalization, cross-app tracking, or selling data.
Ad-measurement pixels (only while we advertise). When we run advertising campaigns, the website may also load measurement tags from the ad platforms we use — currently the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel and Google measurement tags. These use cookies and similar technologies to tell the ad platform that a visit, page view, or contact-form submission happened, so we can see whether our ads work and the platform can measure and improve ad delivery. They receive standard web signals (pages viewed, approximate location from your IP, browser information) and, on the contact form, only the fact that a submission happened — never the name, email, or message you typed. When no campaign is configured, these tags do not load at all. You can limit this measurement with your browser's tracking protections or, for Meta, through your Meta ad preferences.
E. Website contact form
If you use the contact form on jmautomated.com, we receive the name, email address, and project description you submit, plus a Cloudflare Turnstile token used only to filter bots. We store this so we can reply to you and keep a record of the conversation. It is never shared with advertisers or data brokers, and you can email us to delete it at any time.
2. Permissions GetAdvice asks for
| Permission | Why | Data leaves device? |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | Voice input — captured only while you use the mic; transcription happens on-device. | No. |
3. Data retention
- On-device: Chat history is kept locally until you delete the app or clear it from the app settings.
- Server: For Pro users, individual prompts are processed in memory and discarded. We retain only subscription state (until you cancel + Apple's 30-day grace period) and anonymous request counts for capacity planning.
4. Sharing
We share app data only with these parties, only for these purposes:
| Party | What we share | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Subscription state | StoreKit 2 is Apple's payment system |
| Cloudflare / Render | Prompt + reply when cloud processing is used | Infrastructure that routes the request |
| AI providers (xAI; OpenAI for spoken audio; Anthropic or Perplexity as fallbacks) | Prompt + reply when cloud processing is used | Generate the answer and spoken audio |
For the public website, limited analytics vendors may receive page-view and interaction signals only when analytics is configured, and the ad platforms named in section 1D receive ad-measurement signals only while we run campaigns. We do not sell data or share it with data brokers, and the iOS app shares nothing with advertisers or social networks.
5. Your rights
- Delete the app to remove all on-device data instantly.
- Sign out from Settings to clear stored Apple credentials.
- Email Email to request deletion of any server-side subscription record. We process requests within 30 days.
6. Children
GetAdvice is rated 4+ on the App Store and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Parents who believe a child has shared personal information through GetAdvice can email Email.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The "Effective" date at the top will change. Material changes will be surfaced in the app on next launch.
