Missing tablets, wrong leaflets, weak records.

On a pharmaceutical line, the quality record matters as much as the inspection.

Tell us about the system

What does JM Automated Solutions inspect on pharmaceutical lines?

JM Automated Solutions builds camera stations for pharmaceutical packaging lines that read and check serialized codes, verify labels, inserts, and cartons against the batch, find missing or damaged product in blisters, and log every reject with its image and reason. The stations are designed for use in DSCSA and Part 11 environments. They support your quality program; they do not replace FDA-mandated testing.

Based in Carlsbad, we work on pharmaceutical and supplement lines across North County San Diego, San Diego County and Southern California. For bottled supplements and nutraceuticals, see supplement lines.

On the line

What goes wrong on a pharmaceutical line?

Serialization and aggregation errors

The camera reads and checks each code. Tell us how your serialization system takes results, and we plan the hand-off with your team. Aggregation is checked at the case and the pallet. Rejects and rework stay matched to the record, so the case record matches what shipped.

Round bottles in any orientation. The bottle label and serial are read all the way around, however the bottle arrives.

Missing or damaged product in blisters

The check is tuned to that product's color, shape, and surface, with a recipe for the changeover. A reject names the blister and the pocket.

Blister foil lot and expiry. Both are read from the foil and matched to the batch.

Label and insert verification

Label, insert, and carton are checked against the batch in one decision. Barcode and text have to agree. Any mismatch holds the line.

Line clearance and packaging material. Label rolls, cartons and leaflets are checked against the batch before the run starts.

Reject records that can't show why

Every reject is logged with the image, the reason, and the time before the reject fires. Changes to inspection settings are recorded, and access is controlled. The customer validates; JM supports validation.

Desiccant or cotton is missing

The station confirms the desiccant and the cotton are present, and only once, before the cap. A bottle that is missing one, or that has two, is rejected. The check is recorded with the batch. The same check runs on supplement and nutraceutical bottles.

Inspection jobs

Which inspection jobs fit a pharmaceutical line?

Which article covers a pharmaceutical inspection job?

Adding DSCSA serial numbers to pre-printed pharma labels walks through printing and verifying serialized codes on labels that arrive pre-printed, from the printer and the camera to the record that goes with each code.
